Ethella Chupryk started playing piano when she was three years old. At the age of 5 she performed her first concert that consisted of Schubert and Chopin works.
After graduation from the Uzhhorod Musical College in 1986 she entered Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Musical Consevatory. In 1988 she won the first prize at the Mykola Lysenko Competiton and in 1990 – the third prize at Rachmaninoff Piano Competition in Moscow. She is also the laureate of many other competitions and is a scholar at International Association of Wagner Societies in Bayreuth.
Pianist is also a jury member of Mykola Lysenko Competition and since 1996 – a vice-president of Ukrainian Piano Association. She went on the tours to Europe where she performed with different symphony orchestras and such famous conductors as Jansug Kakhidze, Fedir Hlushchenko, Volodymyr Sirenko, Andrash Lizeti, Jerzy Salwatorski, Tadeusz Madej, Vladimir Ponkin, Robert Koenig and others.
Her repertoire includes about 300 solo works and more than 20 piano concertos with orchestras. Chupryk has recorded 13 CDs. Her repertoire is very extensive including works by Domenico Scarlatti, Claude Debussy, Ludvig van Beethoven, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Mykola Lysenko, Virko Baley and others.
Ethella Chupryk is the Honored Artist of Ukraine.
